Father of 21 arrested after chase with Knoxville Police

Desmond Hatchett is facing several charges after police say he ran away from them.

Police responded to a welfare check request in North Knoxville on Wednesday. When the got there, a woman told them she had been sexually assaulted by Hatchett.

Officers went to River View Park Apartments in East Knoxville to find Hatchett. It wasn't long before Hatchett arrived at the complex.

When Hatchett saw a marked police car coming his way, he stopped his car, backed up and drove to the corner of the parking lot. That's when he got out of the car and ran away.

Officers were able to arrest Hatchett on the other side of Holston Hills Road.

Hatchett is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, aggravated stalking, evading arrest, assault and domestic assault, fleeing and other traffic charges.

Police say more serious charges are pending.

Hatchett is also the man who fathered 21 kids and couldn't afford to pay child support in 2009.
