Investigators with the Collier County Sheriff's Office responded to a home in Golden Gate City for reports of a "massive gator" on May 9.

"Kids were waiting nearby at their bus stop, but we're pretty sure this critter wasn't heading to school," the sheriff's office said on Facebook.

Three people, trapper Ray Simonsen, Cpl. Jerrod Carver and Cpl. Edward Costello responded and were able to capture the nine-foot male alligator.

"No one was injured during the wrestling match," the sheriff's office said.

That same day, the sheriff's office said Cpl. Justin Morgan captured an eight-foot alligator in Immokalee on his own.

The gator captured in Golden Gate City was released on May 11.
