Former Lady Vol, WNBA player Kara Lawson among prestigious Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame class
One of the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame inductees is former Lady Vol, former WNBA player, and Olympic gold medalist Kara Lawson.
"Making the decision was the best decision I ever made playing for Pat Summit. I'm friends with a lot of these people being inducted, so it's special," Lawson said.
Her fellow inductees, like Charles Davis, said they are proud to receive this honor alongside such a strong woman.
"Kara is not only one of the best Lady Vols. She's one of the best Vols to ever play. If she wants to be president of the university, I'm behind her," Davis said.
Tennessee AD Phillip Fulmer said he's honored the Lady Vol is part of the tradition here.
"Kara is one of the best on and off the court," Fulmer said.
Lawson said she was honored to be going in the hall on the same weekend that her legendary coach, Pat Summit would have celebrated her 67th birthday.
"There's no coincidence this is the weekend," Lawson said.
Lawson is still doing great things as a network analyst.
