Former TN state trooper earns state seat after nearly fatal wreck

Lowell Russell's story has taken him far beyond the car accident that nearly ended his life.

The former Tennessee State Trooper almost died after his patrol car was struck by a tractor trailer whose driver had fallen asleep.

Russell emerged from the wreckage, having been given a second chance at life, and on Tuesday, Russell made the most of that chance and won a seat in Tennessee's state House of Representatives, replacing the outgoing Jimmy Matlock.
