Georgia man killed in motorcycle accident on the Dragon
The Blount County Sheriff's Office said the 73-year-old Georgia man was killed in a motorcycle accident on the Dragon on Thursday afternoon.
Sheriff's deputies responded to a motorcycle accident at mile marker eight on U.S. Highway 129, also known as the Dragon, before 3 p.m. First responders found a man and a motorcycle 25 yards down an embankment.
Investigators determined that the man, identified as Tommie Fordham, was traveling south on the Dragon when he lost control of his motorcycle while going into a curve.
Fordham was thrown from the motorcycle as it left the roadway.
Investigators say Fordham was wearing a DOT-approved helmet.
