Three golden retriever dogs have arrived safely in Knoxville after traveling from Turkey.

The dogs arrived early Monday morning at Concord Vet Hospital in Farragut.

They had traveled all day Sunday from Istanbul, Turkey to Atlanta, then to Knoxville.

The animals came here because in Turkey their owners abandoned them and they had to fend for themselves.

Dallis Howard with Adopt-a-Golden Knoxville says, "These dogs have been living in forests and we're just glad we can give them a new life."

A total of 18 dogs came to America.

Three came to Knoxville and the others to Nashville and Birmingham.
