BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WVLT) -- Former Green Bay quarterback Bart Starr passed away at the age of 85 after loosing his battle with a recent illness.
Starr played college football at the University of Alabama and went on to play for the Green Bay Packers.
During his athletic career, Starr won two Super Bowls and was named MVP in both games.
The Green Bay Packers released a statement from his family on Twitter Sunday. Here is a little bit of that statement:
"While he will always be best known for his success as the Packers quarterback for 16 years, his true legacy will always be the respectful manner in which he treated every person he met, his humble demeanor, and his generous spirit"
