Hamblen County prepares for snow

HAMBLEN COUNTY, (WVLT) -- Snow and ice will reach the mountaintops of the Smokies only Saturday, and then far Northeast Tennessee, Smokies to the Tri-Cities area Saturday night. There's a winter storm watch for the higher elevations of Monroe County, plus Greene, Hancock, Hawkins, Claiborne, and Wise Counties.

"You don't really know what's going to happen, until it does happens," said Benny Reynolds, who lives in Morristown.

WVLT News stopped by Rural King, a local supply store in Morristown.
Manager Andy Jones said he expects a crowd of people to come in Saturday to buy their winter gear.

"I will be set up and prepared," said Andy Jones, who is the manager of Rural King. "I'll have the ice melt in front ready to go for the customers. Snow shovels will be up front as well. My heating elements will be up there as well."

Rural King has snow shovels, heating essentials, and salt for the roads and driveways.

"After you get your driveway cleared off and it's ready to go, you want to treat it from any more build up from snow, I would suggest putting ice melt on your drive way," said Jones.
