City plans to pay homeless to pick up litter

(WVLT) -- Little Rock Arkansas city leaders say they want to pay some of the city's homeless $9.25 an hour to pick up trash in the city. The city ordinance has a local church organizing the program. It would pay folks for four hours a day, three days a week to pick up litter.

Little Rock has set aside $80,000 to fund the start-up program from April 1st through September 27th of 2019. A similar program is successful in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
