I-40 reopens after early-morning tanker truck crash
Officials said Interstate 40 West and Interstate 40 East are back open after a tanker carrying hazardous material overturned Sunday morning.
Officials said the tanker was uprighted around 11:45 a.m. Sunday and all the hazardous materials were removed.
The interstate was completely closed for hours Sunday morning as crews worked to clear the hazardous material and remove the tanker truck.
A pole supporting an overhead highway sign was damaged during the crash, according to TDOT. Crews were required to remove the damaged sign before the highway could reopen.
