(WVLT) -- "Inside Edition" anchor Deborah Norville has returned to the show after having surgery to remove a cancerous lump on her neck.

According to Norville, she underwent surgery on April 2, to remove most of her thyroid from her neck.

The 60-year-old host said in a video that a viewer reached out a long time ago and told her she had seen a lump on her neck. Norville says she had it checked out and a doctor said it was a thyroid nodule.

Deborah told "Inside Edition “The area where the thyroid is located is also where the nerves that control your voice box are located. And let’s face it, I talk for a living, so it was very, very scary for me.”

Norville has her stitches removed on Friday by Dr. William Kuhel, of Weill Cornell Medicine at New York Presbyterian Hospital. Kuhel used a method of stitching to minimize the appearance of scarring on Norville's neck.
