Jamestown Regional closes, other area hospitals taking in more patients

Jamestown Regional Medical Center, the only hospital in Fentress County, closed its doors Thursday night, according Jamestown Mayor Lyndon Baines said.

Mayor Baines added that two other area hospitals are receiving more patients, and one of them is "full."

Michael Alexander, the interim CEO of Jamestown Regional Medical Center, said he believes the closure will only be temporary. He was not able to give a timetable as to when the hospital could reopen.

Cookeville Regional Medical Center and Cumberland Medical Center.

released last month said the 85-bed facility owed more than $4 million dollars to 200 vendors as of May 30.

According to the hospital website, Jamestown Regional Medical Center, formerly Fentress County General Hospital, admitted its first patient on March 1, 1960.

WVLT News has reached out to Rennova Health, who ran the hospital, but have yet to hear back.
