KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Knox County Sheriff's Office confirmed a child believed to be a student was hit near Halls Middle School just before 4 p.m. on November 11.
WVLT News crews observed investigators on the scene on school grounds.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a 13-year-old child was trying to cross Ledgerwood Road and went behind a silver SUV in the eastbound lane. THP said the SUV blocked the child from view and a Ford Fusion hit the child as they crossed into the westbound lane.
THP said there were no updates on the child's condition.
The driver of the Ford was given a warning for having an expired drivers license, THP reported.
