Knoxville Police Department officers responded to the area of St. Mary’s Street in North Knoxville near the west entrance to the Fulton High School football field after receiving reports of a uniformed officer being struck by a vehicle.

Officers and first responders were in the area of the stadium and located a Knox County School Division Officer lying in the street after being struck by a vehicle.

The suspect had just left a parking area north of the stadium and was driving in a reckless manner. The vehicle lost control and struck several parked and unoccupied vehicles before continuing down St. Mary’s Street.

When the officer tried to stop the vehicle, the driver intentionally struck the officer and fled the scene. The vehicle was identified as a light colored sedan, possibly a white Infiniti.

On Sunday, KPD announced the driver was a teenage girl. According to police, information led to the discovery of the suspect's vehicle in Rockwood.

The car was retrieved and information led to police identifying the driver.

She will be arrested on multiple charges once she is located, police said.

The officer suffered several non-life threatening injuries, and KPD gave no update as to his condition on Sunday afternoon.
