A student was taken into custody Monday, September 16, after the Knox County Sheriff’s Office said the 14-year-old posted a threat on social media to start shooting at Carter Middle School.

According to investigators, the post warned that the suspect, a student at the school, intended to “shoot that (Expletive) up."

On Monday morning, investigators questioned the student and said the student told them it was a joke.

In talking with her, she said she had no intention of hurting people, but was tired of being bullied.

The teen was taken into custody for Filing False Reports and Harassment and was transported to the Richard L. Bean Juvenile Detention Facility.
