The Knox County Sheriff's Office said deputies are investigating a collision between two trucks that left one man dead Saturday morning.
Authorities said the wreck happened shortly after 11 a.m. at the intersection of Rutledge Pike and Old Rutledge Pike.
Deputies said 69-year-old Maynardville native, John Ayers, was driving his Dodge pickup truck North on Rutledge Pike when he veered off the road and struck a Ford Ranger, which was sitting at the intersection. The driver of that truck, 63 year old Malcom Grey III, of Knoxville, was pronounced dead on the scene.
Investigators said they believe a medical condition could have caused Ayers to go off the road. Officials said he was transported to University of Tennessee Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Deputies said Ayers could face charges as the investigation unfolds.
