On November 8, KPD was called to the 4600 block of High School Road around 8 p.m. for a welfare check. Investigators arrived at the home and found a deceased man inside.

Officials identified the victim as 29-year-old Collin Davis. Investigators said Davis had multiple lacerations from a sharp object.

During the investigation, KPD said they learned Davis had been in an altercation with his 29-year-old roommate William Benning two days prior to the discovery of Davis' body.

KPD said that during the dispute, Benning allegedly threatened victim while yielding a sword.

Shortly after that, KPD said witnesses saw Benning cleaning up a large amount of blood, while the basement door was found nailed shut.

Police said the victim was not seen again until the body was discovered on November 8.

Benning was charged with first-degree murder and was taken into custody on Tuesday without incident.
