Armed robber at large after Dollar General heist

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Knoxville Police Department said they responded to an armed robbery at the Dollar General at 4125 Chapman Highway Thursday morning.

According to police, a man pointed a semi-automatic handgun at the cashier inside the store around 9:00 a.m.. The suspect demanded money, then the clerk unlocked the register and handed over the cash. The suspect took the money and ran.

Police said the suspect left the scene in a 2000 model Toyota Sienna minivan described as white with a gray or silver bottom. Police described the man as medium height and build. He was wearing a camouflage jacket, blue pants with a white stripe, black shoes, a bandana and sunglasses.
