The Knox County Sheriff's Office said an 18-year-old was arrested and charged with criminal trespass near Karns High School Monday.

KCSO said Daniel Bell was arrested for aggravated criminal trespass and has a bond of $2,000.

Both Karns High and Ball Camp Elementary were on lockdown as an investigation occurred Monday morning. Initially, KCSO tweeted that a threat was under investigation, but later, KCSO Communications Director Kimberly Glenn said no threat was made.

KCSO said Karns High went on a lockdown around 11:00 a.m. Monday.

An e-mail addressed to parents and guardians of Ball Camp Elementary students stated the school is on a soft lockdown.

"Out of an abundance of caution, Ball Camp Elementary School is currently on a soft lockdown due to an unfolding situation in the community, Principal Sara Brengle said in an e-mail. "Instruction and activities within the building are continuing as normal."
