KPD: Woman tries to hide overdose death

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- KPD said a Knoxville woman was arrested Sunday after claiming to bring a woman she found dead outside her apartment building to a Knoxville fire hall had in fact died of a drug overdose in her home.

Madonna Blevins brought the body to the KFD Fire Hall #10 at 2911 Sevier Avenue. After officials suspected Blevins was lying, she was transported to the Safety Building to be interviewed by Tim Riddle.

During the investigation, officers determined the 32-year-old victim was dating Blevins son and had died in her residence overnight. Blevins transported the victim to the fire hall and reported the false story to cover up that the overdose had occurred in her home.

Blevins was arrested for filing a false report and tampering with evidence, and is being held in the Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility on a $20,000 bond.
