Knoxville's Fanboy draws in celebrities, fans

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- WVLT News hit the town to cover Knoxville's answer to San Diego Comic Con: Fanboy.

Around 33,000 people are expected to come to the Knoxville Convention Center for Fanboy, which kicked off on July 12 and continues through July 14.

WVLT News spoke to stars such as The Monkees' Michael Nesmith and wrestling star Mick Foley.

Fans from all over where at the event, some buying from vendors, like Gabriel, who was getting body painting from a vendor to complement his costume.

"Oh, awesome," he said when he got a glimpse of his face paint for the first time.

WVLT News also hosted a costume contest! The winner? A young man dressed as an alien xenomorph from the movie "Aliens." He said it took him four months to make the costume out of cardboard.
