BELL COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) -- Three family members decided to take advantage of a funeral visitation to steal from the deceased's home, the Bell County Sheriff's Department said.

On Thursday around 5:45 p.m., Bell County Dispatch got a call of a burglary in progress at a home on Balkan Road. The man who lived in that home died on Monday and most of the family was at the visitation.

Deputies and Kentucky State Police troopers responded to the scene and found a trail through the kudzu behind the home.

The trail led them to the daughters of the deceased, Mary Johnson, 36, and Dolly Brock, 40. Mary's husband, George Johnson, 38, was also there.

Deputies said George refused to show them his hands. They used chemical spray to get him to follow their orders. George was allegedly laying on a red crowbar that he was trying to grab during the confrontation. Deputies said he appeared to be under the influence of drugs as well.

George was charged with menacing, resisting arrest, criminal trespassing, public intoxication and an outstanding warrant.

Mary was charged with criminal trespassing. Brock was charged with criminal trespassing and public intoxication.
