(CBS) -- LSU men's basketball coach Will Wade has reportedly appeared on an FBI wiretap discussing an undisclosed offer for a recruit.

Wade made the "h*** of an offer" during a 2017 phone conversation with Christian Dawkins, who was recently sentenced to six months in prison in the pay-to-play scandal that has rocked college basketball.

The player in question is reported to be Tigers freshman guard Javonte Smart, who was a 4-star prospect at the time of the 2017 phone call.

According to ESPN's Mark Schlabach, Dawkin's phone records show three separate conversations with a phone number belonging to Wade between the dates of June 19 and 30 in 2017. Smart committed to LSU on June 30, 2017.

Wade denied any wrongdoing during an appearance on the SEC Network in March 2017.

"What I will say is that I'm very proud of everything I've done as the LSU basketball coach," he said. "I have never, ever done any business of any kind with Christian Dawkins."

Wade's LSU team is currently tied for first with Tennessee for the SEC regular season crown. The Tigers won over Tennessee in February.

Wade previously coached at VCU and Chattanooga.
