LaFollette home washed into creek by floods, pig survives

LAFOLLETE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A LaFollette family is picking up the pieces after flooding swept their house into a nearby creek last week.

McArthur Suttles and his wife built their home on their own. "We built it from the ground up, you know. We put a back porch on it, did all the work on it ourselves."

But that work was washed away, along with the family's four vehicles and many of their animals. All that's left in its original place are the home's foundation blocks and their pet pig.

"It's just devastating to know something you planned on staying the rest of your life in is gone. In just moments, it's gone," Suttles told WVLT News.

For now, the Suttles are living in a family camper until they figure out their next step. "We're just doing the best we can to put our pieces back together."
