KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The three seeded Lady Vols will host 14 seeded Liberty University on Friday at 2:30 p.m. in Knoxville. The game will be televised by ESPN2 and on the Lady Vol Radio Network.
The NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament gets underway on Friday, March 16.
The Lady Vols finished the regular season with a 24-7 record. Liberty enters the tournament with a 24-9 record. They lost in the quarterfinal round of the SEC Women's Tournament to the eventual conference champion, the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Tennessee is the only women's basketball team to reach the NCAA Tournament every year since it began. They earned their 37th straight bid Monday night. The team is 29-1 all-time in NCAA First Round games. Tennessee remains undefeated at home in first round contests and is 56-0 all-time in NCAA Tournament games played at home.
All-session and single-session tickets will go on sale to the general public at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 13, at AllVols.com. Youth pricing (high school age and younger) is available in-person at the ticket office windows during normal business hours or on game day. The clear bag policy is in effect for visitors at Thompson-Boling Arena during the tournament.
Free parking and shuttle service is available on UT's Ag Campus, and shuttle service will begin two hours before tip-off time of the first game in each round. Shuttles will end one hour following the final game.
Arena parking is also available for $10.
All gates will open on hour before tip-off time of the first game.
No. 6 seed Oregon State will meet 11 seed Western Kentucky in the other first round contest in Knoxville at 12 p.m. on Friday. That contest will also be televised by ESPN2, and the winner will meet the winner of the Lady Vols game on Sunday.
