Loose horse darts across Pellissippi Parkway during rush hour
A horse darted across four lanes of Pellissippi Parkway during rush hour Monday according to Horse Haven of Tennessee.
Officials with the equine rescue organization received a phone call just after 4:00 p.m. from a volunteer who spotted the animal darting through traffic.
Representatives with Horse Haven said construction crews working in the area inadvertently left a gate open and that the noise of their machinery scared the horse causing it to bolt from its enclosure. The horse got out of its pasture on George Light Road and ran across four lanes of traffic before running up Pellissippi Parkway towards Oak Ridge.
A Horse Haven of Tennessee representative says the owner of the horse was driving home from work and saw the open gate and began to panic.
Knox County Animal Control managed to capture the loose horse and Horse Haven then transported the animal back to its home about a quarter of a mile away.
