Magnitude 3.0 earthquake shakes New Tazewell

NEW TAZEWELL, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Magnitude 3.0 earthquake hit New Tazewell just before 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to the USGS.

According to the USGS, a 3.0 magnitude earthquake is much less common than 2.0 earthquakes, but both are considered minor and rarely cause damage.
