KPD: During arrest attempt, man bites officer

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)- Police say a man is behind bars after he bit an officer's finger.

It happened Friday night at about 11:00. Officers responded to the Weigels on Summitt Hill Drive for a disturbance call. A man and woman were fighting. Officers say when they approached the man, Christopher Gibson, he took off towards the Old City.

Officers tried arresting him when he bit one of the arresting officer's finger. The second officer hurt his knee and hand.

Both officers were treated at UT Medical Center. The suspect was also treated for being exposed to OC spray.

Officers say Gibson had two outstanding warrants for violation of probation and drug possession.

Gibson was charged with aggravated assault, evading arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia and public intoxication.
