Medical emergency leads to Dragon death

MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - A Georgia man died after experiencing a medical emergency while riding his motorcycle through the Dragon on Friday.

The Blount County Sheriff's Office said Henry Turner, Jr. 44, of Valdosta, Georgia, died at the scene around noon.

Turner lost control of his 2005 Yamaha R1 while negotiating a left hand curve near the 5.5 mile marker of U.S. Highway 129. He went off the ride side of the road and landed about 30 feet below a steep embankment.

Investigators said medical personnel at Blount Memorial Hospital determined Turner likely died of a medical emergency.

Turner was wearing a DOT-approved helmet.

The Blount County Fire Department, Blount County Rescue Squad, and AMR Ambulance Service responded to the scene.

The Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Unit investigated the accident.
