Mexico volcano erupts with massive ash column

Mexico's mighty Popocatepetl volcano came to life on Friday (June 21) evening with a massive eruption that spewed an ash column hundreds of meters into the sky according to local reports.

Local media reported that the column of ash reached some 8,202 feet into the air over Central Mexico.

Popocatepetl is 17,802 feet tall; it's the second highest mountain in Mexico and the fifth highest in North America.
