Missouri man jailed after posting video on how to remove ankle monitors

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KWQC) -- A four-minute Facebook video demonstrating how to remove an ankle bracelet monitor has landed the star of the video in jail.

Dustin W. Burns, 33, of Springfield, Missouri, made the video while he was on probation for violating a restraining order, police say.

Now, Burns is jailed on a charge of felony tampering with electronic monitoring equipment.

His video entitled “Today’s lesson how to remove a GPS tracking bracelet without stopping the circuit...encase anyone was curious” has been viewed more than 45,000 times.

Burns can be seen using a butter knife and other tools to remove a monitor on his ankle while advising viewers to not damage the monitor during the process to avoid owing "f----- thousands of dollars.”

Online jail records show Burns is being held on $4,000 bond.
