Nearly $1 billion in losses claimed in Sevier Co. wildfires
Claims filed in the Sevier County wildfires jumped to 4,233 Monday with $943,003,361.55 of estimated combined losses, according to the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance.
The information was compiled through claims data submitted to the department and aggregated by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.
The Sevier County wildfires took the area by storm on November 28, 2016, forcing 14,000 people to evacuate from the Gatlinburg area. 14 people died as a result of the fires.
