New long-awaited hospital opening in Scott County
Come rain or high water, the only Scott County hospital will re-open its doors for the third time in five years Tuesday morning.
"Much needed here," said Lloyd Lee, Scott County resident. "I think it will be one of the greater things that have happened," he added.
After about a year-long hiatus, the hospital, now known as the
will welcome patients, like Lee's wife, first thing Tuesday morning.
"She has a little heart problem, so we ended up having to go to Knoxville," said Lee.
When the doors shut, Lee and his wife were forced to travel more than an hour to UT Medical Center, the nearest hospital to them. With the grand re-opening in mind, he said the best medicine for his wife right now is the new hospital.
"We need it bad, we need it bad; so maybe she can hold out until it opens," said Lee.
"We're looking forward to moving ahead with not only opening tomorrow but continuing to provide services to our citizens," said Wayne King, Marketing and Safety Director.
King told Local 8 News emergency services, radiology services and therapy will be available as soon as the doors open.
"The only services we will not have as we open tomorrow will be surgical services," said Kind.
King said the Rennova owned hospital will be open 24/7 with a team of 100 employees ready to treat patients like Lee's wife.
"Maybe this time they can stay a while with us," said Lee.
