New restaurant hopes to bring a new life to downtown Sevierville
In downtown Sevierville most businesses close after the courthouse closes in the afternoon. Now a new restaurant has opened and many hope it spurs more after-five growth.
Graze Burgers is an all new restaurant in downtown Sevierville, yes burgers the specialty.
"We specialize in grass fed beef with lots of different toppings. Anything from a Greek burger that we use fresh lamb," said JoAnna Ward with Graze Burgers. "We are definitely trying to bring more of a place for the locals."
Graze will stay open past 5:00, and plans weekend hours as well.
The Sevierville Commons Association wants to get more businesses downtown. Specifically they want to give people a reason to come downtown after 5:00 p.m.
"Downtown Sevierville is for us. It's authentic, it's genuine. It's not something that's geared toward tourists necessarily," said Alex Johnson with Sevierville Commons.
This is the first restaurant to open, now the group hopes more diverse concepts will open up with more space available.
"I grew up here. I got my shoes downtown I got my hair cut downtown, I got my breakfast downtown. And I can do that again now. That's very exciting because for a long time I wasn't able to do that," said Johnson.
"Very exciting to be a part of this. We worked really hard, really long hours, not really knowing what to expect. This is a new untapped market downtown," said Ward.
Next, more downtown restaurants are looking at property and new apartments are being built in the old bank building.
