Ober Gatlinburg skis through warm winter
The temperatures are low in Gatlinburg, but not low enough for rain to turn into snow that would help out the slopes at Ober Gatlinburg. However, that doesn't bother most people. Tourist have traveled from states away to enjoy the winter wonderland not caring too much about the fake snow or the warmer weather.
"I really don't care if it's real or fake snow because it seems like the same," said Heather Brownlee, a tourist from Alabama. We can still make snowballs and go down the ramp as if it was real."
This week the temperatures are low enough that Ober Gatlinburg can start making new snow again. It's a process that takes a few hours and a team that works through the night.
"This winter has been harsh. However, we stay optimistic as far as the snow making temperatures that are in the forecast. We're excited for that and to make the most of our ski season," said Kate Barido, Director of Sales for Ober Gatlinburg.
Come this weekend, Ober Gatllinburg will have even more snow and possibly more terrain to snowboard on or ski.
