Passenger dead, driver seriously injured in Knox County crash

KNOXVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) The Knox County Sherriff's Office says one person is dead and one has life-threatening injuries after a crash overnight.

Officials said a single-vehicle was traveling southbound on Heiskell Road at Country Walk. The vehicle went off the road and hit a fence and utility pole.

The driver and passenger were transported to UT Medical Center, according to KCSO. Officials said the driver has life-threatening injuries and the passenger died at the hospital.

Heiskell Road was closed until 4 a.m. Saturday, as a result of the crash.

Officers discovered 25 grams of Methamphetamine, 1.6 grams of crack cocaine, Xanax and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle, according to reports.

The victim has not been identified. KCSO said the victim's family has not been notified.

KCSO said the Crash Reconstruction Team are investigating the crash.
