Woman hurt in Clingmans Dome crash was reported missing in Missouri

GATLINBURG, Tenn. (WVLT) -- One person is dead and another seriously injured after a crash on Clingmans Dome Road on Monday.

According to park officials, Timothy Patrick James McCauley, age 37, of Farmington, Missouri was killed after the 2009 Chevy Cobalt he was driving left the roadway and landed approximately 50 feet below the roadway approximately 1 mile east of the Clingmans Dome Parking Area along Clingmans Dome Road.

The passenger of the vehicle, Angela Walker, age 38, was airlifted to UT Medical Center with injuries.

According to the St. Francis County, Missouri Sheriff's Office, Walker had been reported missing by her parents. Investigators said they believed she left willingly but issued a "be on the lookout" for Walker as a precaution.

Officials said they learned of her location after she was admitted to the hospital.

Clingmans Dome Road was closed for nearly five hours as crews worked the crash.

Officials did not release any information about the cause of the crash.
