Suspect in custody following Pigeon Forge officer-involved shooting

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation identified the suspect who was injured in an officer-involved shooting just before 4 a.m. Friday as Johnathan A. Sellers, 18.

The incident occurred. on the Parkway in Sevier County near Apple Valley Road.

After closing the Parkway for several hours, all lanes are now reopened, and Sellers is in custody at the Blount County Correctional Facility after being released from the hospital.

Sevierville and Pigeon Forge police deployed spike strips on the Parkway prevent Sellers from fleeing after being stopped for a suspected DUI. The Pigeon Forge Police Department said Sellers exited his vehicle after it became disabled, and was brandishing a weapon. Three officers were then forced to shoot, hitting Sellers who was taken to a hospital for treatment.

No officers were injured. There is no word on Sellers' current condition.
