A Knoxville man was sentenced to prison for possessing child pornography, the Knoxville Police Department said.

According to a release, Norman Padgett was sentenced to nine years in prison after an investigation by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force got a tip about child pornography on Padgett's mobile device.

KPD said investigators searched Padgett's device and found more than 800 images of child porn.

In 2015, a Knox County Grand Jury "returned a true bill' against Padgett, and he was immediately arrested for sexual exploitation of a minor and was held at the Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility on a $300,000 bond.

On April 30, 2019, police said he pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted sexual exploitation of a minor.

Police said Padgett has remained in custody at the detention facility since his arrest in 2015.
