All lanes of I-40 back open after fatal head-on collision

The Knoxville Police Department responded to the scene of a head-on collision along Interstate 40 near the ramp to Interstate 640 west early Saturday morning.
The accident occurred around 5:30 a.m. near the Liberty Street overpass.
UPDATE:
A black Hyundai Elantra was traveling east in the westbound lanes of I-40 and struck a gold Toyota Camry head-on, that was traveling westbound.
The driver of the Camry was pronounced dead on the scene and the driver of the Elantra was transported to UT Hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to KPD.
A dog was also found dead inside the Elantra.
The names of the drivers have not yet been released due to notification of the families.
All lanes of I-40 west are back open for travel.
KPD is calling the crash serious.
Three lanes of I-40 are closed, but police are directing drivers around the wreck, via the exit ramp.
