KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Surveillance video captured a porch pirate pilfering two packages from the front steps of a Knoxville home, according to the victim.

A Knoxville woman said surveillance video showed a porch pirate stealing a package from her home.

Erin Hatfield told WVLT News the packages were delivered at 3:42 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19. Seven minutes later, she said the same packages were gone.

Hatfield didn't realize what had happened until she received a delivery notification and found the packages missing from her front door. She only discovered the crime after reviewing surveillance footage.

It appeared to show a black car pulling into Hatfield's driveway. A driver stayed in the car as a female passenger jumped out, grabbed the packages and ran back to the car. The black sedan then backed out of the driveway.

Hatfield said it was likely a crime of opportunity with a delivery truck leading the way, "I think they were just following the truck around."

The two packages contained camping supplies for an upcoming back country trip and an air fryer, valued around $100.

Hatfield filed a police report.
