A Nashville woman survived being attacked by a man who raped and robbed her in her apartment.

According to CBS affiliate WTVF, the incident occurred at the Overlook apartment complex in Antioch.

Metro Nashville Police said the victim, a pregnant woman in her 30s, came home from the store at around 4:10 p.m. She heard noises while in her bedroom, WTVF reported, but believed they were coming from outside.

Shortly after, a man with a knife came into her bedroom from the kitchen.

He demanded money and told her not to run. He then took the belongings in her purse and then raped her.

During the struggle, the woman hit her attacker in the head with a bottle, which caused him to leave the room, WTVF reported. She used the knife that he left behind to slash a window screen and jumped out of it.

The man got into her car, a dark green Camry with Tennessee tags LP4141, and fled the apartment complex.

According to WTVF, the rapist/burglar was described as a black man in his late teens to early 20s, about 6 feet tall with a thin but muscular build. The woman described him as being clean shaven and wearing a purple T-shirt, dark jeans and black and white athletic shoes.

The victim suffered serious injuries when she jumped and is still hospitalized.

Her car was later found from another apartment complex.
