Red Cross to open shelter in Knoxville for Hurricane Florence evacuees

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The American Red Cross is opening a shelter for Hurricane Florence evacuees.

The organization will be opening a shelter at Central Baptist Church, located in West Knoxville at 6300 Deane Hill Drive.

The Red Cross will also open shelters in Johnson City and Chattanooga.

Officials said in a statement the Red Cross is prepared to provide shelter until evacuees are able to return home safely.
