KCSO: One dead after North Knox Co. crash, speed was a factor

KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Rural Metro responded to reports of a vehicle crash on Salem Church Road on Wednesday evening at about 6 p.m.

The organization said a car collided with a tree, and two people were ejected.

According to officials, four people were transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for treatment. Two of the people were said to be in critical condition.

On Thursday evening, the Knox County Sheriff's Office reported that one of the patients died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

KCSO said speed was a contributing factor in the incident.

The sheriff's office gave no updates on the status of the other patients.
