Rural Metro: Family escapes North Knox fire, but home a total loss
Rural/Metro Fire Captain Jeff Bagwell said his crews battled a fire Monday morning in the 9300 block Loyston Road.
They got the call around 6:30 a.m., and upon arrival found heavy fire coming through the roof with all the family safely outside.
Bagwell said the smell of smoke woke up everyone inside, and a fire was discovered in the attic.
It took Rural/Metro firefighters almost three hours to extinguish the flames with five engines. The house, which was built in the early 1900s, was a total loss.
Red Cross is assisting the family with temporary housing and the fire's cause is still under investigation.
