A school bus aide with North Augusta Elementary School has been arrested and fired after investigators say she slapped a child with autism at least twice on the leg.

Lt. Tim Thornton with North Augusta Public Safety says Connie Rabun has been charged with third degree assault and battery in connection with the case.

The arrest warrant says Rabun was riding on the bus with the 6-year-old victim after school on May 24 when she hit the child.

Further details about the incident remain limited, but the Aiken County Public School District tells news 12 Rabun was fired.
