Save Our Sons, Change Center to host job fair on Sunday
Looking for a new job?
The City of Knoxville's Save Our Sons initiative is teaming up with the Change Center's jobs initiative and Johnson Family Restaurants to host an informational meeting and hiring event. Jobs To-Go will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 27, at Overcoming Believers Church, 211 Harriet Tubman St.
“A main focus for the Change Center is working with employers to connect inner-city youth and young adults to existing job opportunities,” Change Center Executive Director Nicole Chandler said. “A major part of changing your circumstance is finding and securing employment, so we’re excited that Kelly Johnson and Johnson Family Restaurants are partnering with us to offer employment for young people who are invested in themselves and their futures.”
Bennett’s Pit Bar-B-Que, Alamo Steakhouse, Mama’s Farmhouse, Big Daddy’s Pizzeria & Arcade, and Mad Dog’s Creamery are all owned by Johnson Family Restaurants, who said they need to fill several positions. Interested applicants should be a photo ID, passport, driver's license or government-issued ID and a social security card or birth certificate.
For employees hired at the event, the Change Center said it would provide free transportation to and from Pigeon Forge so they can get to work.
“Save Our Sons works to promote strong, safe, healthy communities through collaborations with community partners,” Save Our Sons Outreach Manager Kevin Perry said. “This collaboration is a perfect example of how good things happen when community and community partners are engaged in making a positive difference in the lives of Knoxville’s youth.”
Anyone who wants more information about the event can call Nicole Chandler at 865-961-1567 or Tatia Harris at 865-215-2831.
