Sevier Co. student taken into custody after making threat

SEVIER COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Sevier County Sheriff's Office said a student was taken into custody for making a threat involving a firearm.

The sheriff's office said the Northview Academy student made the threat on social media and was taken into custody on Wednesday evening.

As a precaution, the sheriff's office said extra officials from the sheriff's office, the Sevierville Police Department and the school system will be on hand "to enhance the security measures already in place" at the school.

"Thank you for the cooperation and remember, 'see something, say something'," the sheriff's office said on Facebook.
