KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Knox County Sheriff's Office said a Thursday call for a possible murder was fake.
KCSO was called early this afternoon to a home on Dancing Light Lane for a possible shooting.
When deputies arrived they found that nobody was home. Deputies contacted the homeowners and found they had not called 911. The homeowners didn't know about the call.
KCSO found the call was fake and didn't come from the west Knox County residence.
Sheriff's deputies are investigating. The person that made the fake call could face a charge for making a false report, which is a class C felony in Tennessee, punishable by up to 15 years in prison and a maximum fine of $10,000.
