KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- It's a good idea to start your day with coconut oil.
"It will allow your body to begin to burn fat rather than sugar and its an appetite suppressant," said Dr. Pete Sulack, America's Leading Stress Expert.
Dr. Pete Sulack just adds a tablespoon of coconut oil to his coffee. That boosts his energy by 5% the rest of the day.
"It's great to help you absorb calcium in your bones. It's great for bone health," said Dr. Pete. "It's great for brain function."
It comes from coconut. It's a saturated fat, which is good for you.
"Heart disease is not caused by saturated fats," said Dr. Pete. "It's caused by sugars, fructose, grains, and stress."
Dr. Pete told Local 8 News ditch the olive oil when you're cooking. When the oil heats up, it loses it's nutritional value and could be harmful.
Instead, grab the coconut oil.
"Coconut oil is great when you heat it up," said Dr. Pete. "It won't be damaged."
It's not only good for cooking. It's also a moisturizer for your body and will keep your skin looking young and healthy.
Just add lavender and hemp seed oil. It's an automatic moisturizer.
"Even if you're going out there to the beach, put some coconut oil on your face," said Dr. Pete. "It will block the bad rays and allow the good rays to get in."
Dr. Pete said it works miracles. Take a tablespoon of the oil, add a drop of myrrh, and a clove of cinnamon and that will give you a healthier smile.
"Swish it around your mouth for ten minutes and then spit it out and it will pull out toxins to reduce tooth decay," said Dr. Pete.
You can find organic coconut oil at any Food City.
